Steps To Make The Cat Craft For Any Toddler

Toddlers will love making crafts to look like their favorite feline.

Most toddlers love cats. They love to touch cats and pretend to be cats. Take advantage a child's feline delight by making cat-themed crafts together. Since toddlers cannot handle cutting, an adult should cut out all necessary shapes before giving the materials to the toddler to assemble.

Instructions

Cat Purse

1. Cut two 5-in. circles from orange felt. Cut two 1-in. triangles from orange felt for ears, two smaller triangles from pink felt to go inside the ears, two 1/2-in. almond shapes from green felt for eyes, one 1/2-in. semicircle from black felt for the nose, and a rounded W shape from black felt for the mouth. Cut out six 1/2-in.-wide and 2-in.-long strips to make stripes. Cut out two 2-1/2-in. semicircles from white felt. Leaving a 1/2-in. border, cut out the centers of the white semicircles. These will be the handles. Cut out all the shapes before the toddler makes the craft.

2. Allow the toddler to glue the eyes, nose, mouth and ears to one of the orange circles with fabric glue. Have the toddler glue the six white strips to the other orange circle to make a striped cat. Glue the handles to the back of each orange circle.

3. Draw a line of glue around the bottom edge and sides of one of the orange circles. Press the other circle on top of the first to finish the purse. Allow the purse to dry overnight before the toddler uses it.

Paper-Plate Cat Mask

4. Place the paper plate face-side down on the work surface. Cut a 2-in. oval from pink paper for the cat's nose. Cut six 1/2-in.-wide and 3-in.-long strips from black paper for whiskers. Cut two, 2-in. triangles from white paper for ears.

5. Mark the place on the paper plate where each piece of the cat's face will go. Cut out the eye holes with scissors.

6. Allow the child to glue the cat's face into place. Tape the ears to the back of the mask.

7. Punch a hole on each side of the plate, at about eye level. Tie an elastic string to each hole for wearing the mask.
