Create realistic arrangements using silk flowers.
Silk flowers are a sustainable form of flower arranging as they can be reused again and again for centerpieces and other craft projects, whereas real flowers usually end up in the trash after one use. Use tall vases in your silk flower arrangements to show off both the flowers and the decorative nature of the vase. Create silk flower centerpieces for weddings, holiday celebrations, birthdays or any special event, and allow the guest of honor to keep the centerpiece as a memento of the occasion if desired.
Instructions
1. Use a tall vase that contains assorted patterns or designs. Because silk flowers are not real flowers, there is no need to display them in clear vases that will show off the stems. Choose a vase that matches the color scheme or theme of the event for which you are using the centerpiece, such as green, white and red vases for a Christmas event or pastel colors for a springtime or Easter celebration.
2. Arrange your silk flowers in a specific shape if desired, such as a triangular arrangement. Use floral foam at the bottom of the vase to help keep the flowers in place. Stuff some rags or other applicable material in the bottom of the vase before using the craft foam if the vase is too tall for the flowers to reach the foam alone.
3. Use the tallest silk flowers you have in the center of the vase/foam, then use flowers in descending size on either side of the tall flowers. The shortest of the silk flowers should be on the outermost edges of each side of the arrangement. If needed, trim the stems of some of the flowers with a pair of scissors to get the height you want.
4. Arrange any filler flowers and greenery in the centerpiece if desired, such as silk baby's breath or silk green snowball flowers, to round out the centerpiece. Feathers are another item that can be used to fill out the arrangement.
5. Add assorted finishing touches, such as sprinkling the entire arrangement with gold or silver glitter dust.
