Fancy Rearfoot Shoe Party Ideas

A love of fancy high heels can inspire a variety of party types.

High heel shoes are, in the minds of many women, much more of "a girl's best friend" than diamonds. If you're planning a bachelorette or girl's birthday party, think about using fancy high heel shoes as your theme. Parties planned around purchasing or swapping fancy high heels can not only celebrate the love of these shoes, but provide a practical way to stock your closet with some new favorites.

Bachelorette Party

A girls-only party is a perfect opportunity for indulging in girl-tastic high heels. Require all attendees to dress in their fanciest high heels, and, if your pocketbooks allow, purchase (as a group) the fanciest, most outrageously high heels you can find for the bride-to-be to sport. Hit the town in your dressiest dresses and jewelry, making appearances at whatever night spots your locale affords. Since high heels are all about how you move, make sure to strut your stuff on at least one dance floor, and, if possible, arrange for the bride to have a solo moment in the spotlight in her ultra-fancy high heels.

Little Girl's Birthday Party

Big and little girls alike love high heels. Some girls' earliest memories of dress-up involve strapping on a pair of mom's high heels. For a little girl's high heel birthday party, plan a shoe fashion show. Let each girl choose from a dress-up box of fancy high heels, adding accessories like jewelry, scarves and feather boas. Depending on the girls' ages, offer to make them up or provide face paints to add to the fanciness of their looks. Give awards (for example, Sassiest Shoes, Most Sophisticated or Best Strut) to each girl who participates. A high heel cake, glass slippers or sparkly heels filled with nuts and dried fruit and a high heel piñata will add to the festive theme.

High Heels Swap Party

Clothes swap parties are a common way for friends and acquaintances to exchange what's old or not-quite-right-for-you for another's discarded but perfect-for-you look. Why not follow the idea of this theme with a "Fancy High Heels Swap Party?" Everyone can bring the shoes that they've loved but never got around to wearing or the ones that they bought on sale even though they didn't quite fit, and throw them in the mix. Have everyone bring a potluck snack, while you provide refreshing beverages, music and an open area for displaying and trying on. Take this party idea a step further by offering inexpensive door prizes or awards for the funkiest, fanciest and most sophisticated shoes.
