Regular cleaning will keep your baby grand piano looking beautiful.
A black lacquer baby grand piano, which is beautiful to look at and listen to, deserves and demands special care. Although it is a major piece of furniture in a home, it should not be cleaned like any other piece of furniture. Regular cleaning, using the proper methods, will keep it looking as gorgeous as it sounds.
Instructions
1. Close the top of the piano to avoid any possible accidents or contact with the delicate interior parts.
2. Dust the exterior piano gently with a feather or lambs-wool duster. Use a light touch to avoid scratching the finish.
3. Mix approximately 1 gallon of lukewarm water with 1 tsp. of mild dish soap.
4. Dip a clean flannel or microfiber cloth in the dish soap solution and then wring it out until it is only damp.
5. Wipe the exterior of the piano with the damp cloth using long, broad strokes rather than circular ones.
6. Dry the piano immediately with a clean flannel or microfiber cloth using long, broad strokes.
7. Moisten a fresh, clean cloth with the dish soap solution and wring out the cloth until it is only damp.
8. Wipe a small group of white piano keys with the damp cloth, cleaning each key from front to back, not side to side.
9. Dry the keys immediately with a clean flannel or microfiber cloth.
10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9, until all of the white keys have been cleaned, then repeat the process with the black keys. Cleaning the black keys last ensures that if any of the black paint bleeds on to the cleaning cloth it is not transferred to the white keys.
