How You Can Decorate A Masquerade Ball Wedding

Sprinkle rose petals on the ground and table tops.

Though every wedding is special in some way, theme weddings add a refreshing flare that contrasts traditional weddings. Masquerade ball weddings can transport guests to the 15th century. Traditionally, these balls, originating in Italy and also popularized in France, were costume parties in which attendees engaged in a night of secrecy, mystery, intrigue and indulgence. They were extravagant and their masked dancers kept their identities undisclosed, which allowed them to behave as they desired without damaging their reputations.

Instructions

1. Drape large pieces of tulle or satin across the walls of the reception venue, securing them in place with double sided tape, tacky or preferably staples from a staple gun. Drape tulle from pew to pew or row to row in the ceremony venue; either tie the tulle to the chairs or tape them in place. Use darker colors for a bolder look, such as purple, dark red or black. Use white for a more classic look.

2. Place candles on the table tops of the reception venue and along the aisles of the ceremony venue. If you want to add aroma, use scented candles of your choice. Make sure that each candle has a candle holder or jar so that wax does not drip onto the tables and floors.

3. Place roses or ostrich or peacock feathers into vases and place the vases in the center of the reception tables as centerpieces. Instead or in addition to this, set branches in the vases and string pearls or crystals along them. These crystals and pearls will also catch the light and create a sparkling effect across the table. If desired, place small lights beneath the centerpiece to illuminate them even further.

4. Provide guests with masquerade masks and fans. Place the masks and fans on each of the reception tables as wedding favors and as decorations. The masks can be any color, although black and white masks may match with most outfits. If desired, require your guests to dress up to match the theme. Long gowns and tuxedos, coupled with the masks and fans, will make the guests feel like they are in a real French masquerade ball.

5. Place vintage settes, sofas and chairs in gathering areas around the reception venue. These furniture pieces should be placed in open areas, such as near the dance floor. Since masquerade balls often include feasting and drinking, set up wine and champagne stations, chocolate fountains and hors d'ourves tables throughout the room. this will encourage guests to walk around and mingle when they are not dancing, creating more of a ball-like setting.
