How To Find A Table Focal point

Choosing the perfect centerpiece for an important occasion may prove challenging due to the many choices available in the home décor section. Centerpieces may range from simple to elaborate depending on the event; however each centerpiece should match the theme of the day, whether it is Halloween, Christmas, Harvest Festival, a christening, birthdays, homecoming or a myriad of other events calling for a centerpiece to set off your dinner table. Make your own centerpieces and show off your creativity.

Instructions

1. Check out themed centerpieces for Thanksgiving. This could range from a simple bowl of fruit including fragrant lemons to a large, elaborate cornucopia spilling over with real or faux fruit and vegetables. A basketful of mini pumpkins and shiny gourds with colored fall leaves surrounding the centerpiece basket will add a touch of class to the table.

2. Decide on a themed Halloween table centerpiece and allow your imagination to take over. Use witches, broomsticks, mini straw-bales, orange and brown mini wreaths, bright orange pumpkins, painted gourds and straw dolls. Add ghosts, bats, faux spider webs and haunted houses and let your mind create something ghoulish and scary. You may wish to place votive candles and candy treats on the table as part of the overall theme.

3. Use fresh-cut cedar boughs for an aromatic Christmas centerpiece. Make holly, a yule log made of a regular cut log with rough bark and some frosting or powdered sugar along the top of it as faux snow. Add some wide, red, velvet ribbon with some jingle bells attached at the base of two long-stemmed wine glasses and arrange in an eye-catching presentation on the table. Additionally, you could add cinnamon-perfumed chunky candles on either side of the centerpiece.

4. Put together a wedding-themed centerpiece for upcoming wedding receptions. These can range from sexy-themed to tame, using garters, fishnet stockings, small items of lingerie such as teddies, peek-a-boo bras and thongs—use your imagination for the sexy-themed centerpiece. Tame-themed centerpieces could include traditional items connected to weddings such as rice, multi-colored confetti, something old, new, borrowed and blue.

5. For birthdays, pile small, gift-wrapped boxes up on the center of the table along with party hats, balloons, noise-makers and iced cupcakes with candles stuck in each. Place colored streamers around everything. Buy number candles according to the person’s age, and light them when the person enters the room.
