Decorating a wedding reception room involves paying attention to both the large and minute details. That is what makes it so challenging. Start by working with the space. If it's a large room, you will have more space to work with. Create a romantic and elegant mood in the wedding reception room. Use the colors and flowers from the wedding, along with sumptuous fabrics and personal touches.
Instructions
1. Set up the lighting in the room. Decide whether you will keep the room dim or well-lit. Adorn the reception room with strings of white twinkling lights. For some Asian flair, hang lighted paper lanterns from the ceiling.
2. Drape fabric on the walls and ceiling of the wedding reception room. Fabrics such as sheer tulle or organza are ideal. Add wedding flowers to the corners of the fabric. Pay special attention to the table where the bride and groom will be seated.
3. Arrange all of the chairs and tables. Some venues will already have done this for you. Add table linens such as tablecloths, runners, place mats and napkins to the table. Tie white ribbon around the stems of the champagne flutes.
4. Create centerpieces on the wedding reception tables. For a glamorous wedding look, add vases with large white feathers to the center of each table. If it's a tropical themed wedding, candles with crystals and shells around them look lovely.
5. Decorate the cake table with rose petals. Scatter them on the cake table. Another option is to add a true focal point behind the cake table with an arch. This is a large fixture that you can also decorate with flowers and lace.
