Schools For That Lvn Nurse In Northern California

Schools for the LVN Nurse in Northern California

The California Employment Development Department predicts that the demand for licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) will increase by 18 percent from 2006 through 2016. To begin a career in the field, prospective nurses must receive a certificate or diploma from a California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians-approved school. In Northern California, a small number of public and private schools carry this accreditation.

College of the Redwoods

Established in 1964, the College of the Redwoods is a public institution with more than 40,000 students. To enroll in the program, applicants must possess certified nursing assistant designation in the state of California or take a class in patient care. Required courses for graduation include nutrition, pharmacology, anatomy, microbiology and psychology. Among the financial aid programs available for eligible students are federal and state grants and loans, Bureau of Indian Affairs grants, work-study placements and institutional scholarships.
