Palm trees are a type of tree typically found in warm locations. They have a thick brown base and long, glossy green leaves. A palm tree conjures up images in many people's minds of white, sandy beaches and clear blue-green waters teeming with colorful and otherwise rare fish. You can make your own pleasant reminder of the Caribbean or South Pacific at home with construction paper and a few other common household items.
Instructions
1. Roll a piece of brown construction paper into a cylinder. The interior should be hollow. Staple the ends of the construction paper together. This will form the base of the palm tree.
2. Fold a piece of green construction paper in half. Make even cuts in the piece of construction paper every inch. Don't cut all the way to the crease in the paper. Leave at least an inch of paper at the end.
3. Staple the ends of the green construction paper to each other so that it forms a crown shape. This will serve as the leaves of your palm tree.
4. Squeeze a line of glue on the interior around one end of the brown construction paper cylinder.
5. Place the green construction paper leaves at the end of the cylinder. Fan the leaves out so that there are no gaps around the sides.
6. Cut out a 3-inch round strip of yellow construction paper. Glue it to the bottom of the brown trunk to represent sand. Glue the yellow construction to a plastic lid to provide a sturdy base for the tree.
