Eye lash Yarn Knit Scarf Instructions

Make handmade scarves using craft supplies.

When you make a handmade knit scarf, you may think of using basic cotton or wool yarn. However, you can make the scarf more interesting and colorful by using a fancy style of yarn, such as eyelash yarn. Eyelash yarn is wispy and feathery, making it more difficult to knit with. To knit a scarf successfully with eyelash yarn, it is helpful to use a few common knitting techniques to keep the long eyelash fringe in order.

Instructions

1. Grasp the end of a ball of eyelash yarn in between your thumb and forefinger while your palm is facing down. Twist your hand around so that it is facing up, which will naturally create a loop in between your thumb and forefinger. Insert one of the knitting needles into the loop, then release it. This will cinch the stitch onto the knitting needle as one cast-on stitch. Repeat to cast on 20 stitches.

2. Hold the knitting needle with the stitches on it in your left hand, and the empty knitting needle in your right hand. Insert the right knitting needle into the first stitch on the left knitting needle. Wrap the yarn around the right knitting needle, then pull the wrapped yarn underneath the first stitch. Lift the first stitch off of the left needle, which will cause the newly knitted stitch to cinch onto the right knitting needle. This is the first knitted stitch. Repeat to knit the entire row of stitches.

3. Lay the knitting needles onto a table, allowing the row of knitted stitches to lay horizontally. The eyelash yarn will have become tucked into the stitches. Insert a crochet hook into the fringe of the eyelash yarn, and pull out the fringe slowly. Do not pull out the stitches, only the fringe. This will enable the fringe to hang freely.

4. Knit the eyelash yarn stitches again, pulling out the eyelash fringe after each row, until the scarf is at least 48 inches long.

5. Insert the right knitting needle into the first stitch on the left needle. Knit the stitch as usual, then lift the second stitch directly onto the right knitting needle. Lift the first stitch over the top of the second stitch using the left knitting needle, then completely off of the needles. This is the first cast-of stitch. Repeat to cast off all of the stitches.

6. Trim off the excess yarn using scissors before wearing the eyelash yarn scarf.
