Create a glamorous Hollywood-style bedroom for a girl who plays dressup.
An old-fashioned Hollywood glam theme hearkens back to the infamous Hollywood era of starlets such as Marilyn Monroe and it's also perfect for a diva who wants a glamorous place to rest her head at night. Hollywood glam gives you a luxurious and romantic atmosphere for adults or a bedroom that a girl could play dress-up in until she's grown enough to wear her mother's heels, boa and lipstick.
Walls
Cover an entire wall with mirrored tiles to create a shiny and reflective surface. Alternatively, a mural could mimic the Hollywood hills at night with a mural that includes the famed Hollywood sign and lights. Striped pink walls would work for a girl's bedroom, while robin's egg blue walls will work for a child or adult space. The walls should instantly create a feeling of glamor upon entering the bedroom, so rich, deep colors work well. Another approach is to create a border around the room that looks like the Hollywood Walk of Fame with stars featuring the names of Hollywood's greats.
Furniture
Ornate canopy beds or elaborate tufted headboards can serve as the focal point in the room. Curvy lingerie chests, a dressing table and a fabric-covered stool will add to the look. Mirrored furniture also mimics the glamorous look of old Hollywood bedrooms and dressing rooms. Include a luxurious chair or settee in the room if there's enough space available. Add a clothes rack on wheels if you're going for a Hollywood dressing room look or for a girl's room who frequently plays dress-up.
Textiles
Create a sophisticated and luxurious room by adding texture with different textiles. Velvet or silk drapes over sheer panels in shimmery silver or bold red will set the tone for the room. Shimmery, silky bedding in red, black, purple, red or blue also enhances the Hollywood glam feel of the room. Pile throw pillows on the bed for comfort and texture. Place a rug on the floor, such as a high pile white rug or an animal-shaped rug.
Accessories
Accessories pull the entire room together to create an old Hollywood glam feeling. Hang large crystals from the ceiling or a single fancy chandelier in lieu of a regular bedroom light. Wall sconces or dramatic, shiny bedside lamps are dramatic accessories. Frame posters or pictures of your favorite Hollywood starlets for the walls. Candles, bountiful bouquets or feather boas are other easy ways to accessorize a Hollywood glam bedroom.
