Steps To Make Lamp Crafts

Light bulb crafts are a fun way to use up burnt out light bulbs. Instead of throwing them away, you can make fun holiday ornaments. Make these light bulb chicken or bunny ornaments for Easter, a spring tea or a baby shower. An Easter tree will look adorable filled with these light bulb ornaments or give them as fun spring party favors. This project is easy enough to do with children.


Instructions


Light Bulb Chicken


1. Tear a small bit from a household sponge. Sponge paint the top half of a light bulb using with yellow acrylic paint. Set the bulb on top of a baby food jar and allow it to dry. Sponge paint the bottom half of the light bulb using the yellow acrylic paint. Set the bulb on top of the baby food jar and allow it to dry.


2. Hot glue yellow feathers along the sides, back and top of the painted light bulb. The screw end of the light bulb is the top. Dip the blunt end of a wooden skewer in black acrylic paint and dot two eyes positioned close together a 1/2 inch above the large rounded bottom of the light bulb. Dip the blunt end of the wood skewer in orange acrylic paint and dot a beak below the eyes. Allow the paint to dry. Sponge pink paint lightly for the chicken's cheeks.


3. Cut an 8-inch length of craft wire and poke both ends through the top of a 2-inch straw hat. Twist the ends together below the hat. The wire on top of the hat will be your ornament holder. Hot glue the hat to the top of the light bulb screw end. Cut a 12-inch piece of ribbon and tie into a bow. Glue the ribbon to the front of the hat.

4. Sponge paint the top half of a light bulb using off-white acrylic paint. Set the bulb on top of a baby food jar and allow it to dry. Sponge paint the bottom half of the light bulb using the off-white acrylic paint. Set the bulb on top of the baby food jar and allow it to dry.


5. Cut two pieces of off-white felt 1 1/2-by-3 inches long for the bunny ears. Shape the rectangles into large teardrops. Hot glue the small end of the teardrops to the screw end of the light bulb for the ears. Cut an 8-inch length of craft wire and poke both ends through the top of a 4-inch straw hat. Twist the ends together below the hat. The wire on top of the hat will be the ornament holder. Hot glue the hat to the top of the light bulb screw end covering the glued tops of the ears.


6. Dip the eraser end of the pencil in the black acrylic paint and dot two eyes positioned 1/8 inch apart and a 1/2 inch below the hat. Allow the paint to dry. Sponge pink paint lightly for cheeks. Dip the blunt end of the skewer in the off-white acrylic paint and dot a highlight on each of the eyes. Allow the paint to dry.


7. Cut two pieces of chenille stem 3 inches long. Hold them together and twist the center. Hot glue the twisted center to the face below the eyes. Hot glue a pink pom-pom over the center of the chenille stem for the nose. Cut a 12 inch length of ribbon and tie it into a bow. Glue the ribbon onto the front of the hat.
