Planning A Masquerade Party

Have guests wear masks to your next party.


Host a masquerade party for your friends, especially if you have many single friends. Masquerade parties require guests to wear a mask over their face to hide Having guests hide behind masks can bring on a certain amount of mystery to the party. Send out creative invitations, offer plenty to eat and plan activities. You want your guests to enjoy themselves while they get to know other people at the party and mingle.


Instructions


1. Purchase a set of masks from the dollar store or create masks out of cardstock. Decorate the masks with glitter, feathers or ribbon. Write what time the party starts and ends, what to expect, what to wear and what will be planned at the party. Also include your phone number and an "RSVP by" date. Be sure to tell your guests to come dressed up. Have the men wear tuxedos and the women to wear formal dresses.


2. Decorate in an elegant theme with tulle, and colors like black, silver, purple and gold. You can also decorate with candles and pearls. Set up centerpieces in crystal vases with peacock feathers and long stemmed roses. Place small, round tables covered with satin table cloths with a diamond pattern on them. Set up clusters of balloons in colors like purple, gold and black.


3. Make or have a topsy-turvy cake made for the main dessert. Have the cake decorated in golds and purples with a diamond pattern on it. Or, have the decorator pipe a mask out of frosting onto the cake. Place mini sandwiches on a gold tiered stand. Make cookies and shape them into oval shapes. Gently press two oval shapes together so they look like masks.Serve individual desserts like cheesecake. Cut the cheesecake into diamond shapes and dust them with gold or silver edible dust. Serve simple sparkling drinks like champagne or lemon lime soda in rhinestone-studded goblets.


4. Break the ice by taking individual Polaroids of each guest as they walk in with their mask on. Place these photos on the wall and when everyone gets to the party, have them guess who each person is. Hold a best dressed contest. Have guests vote for who has the best dress, best mask and any other questions you might want to ask. The winner for each category gets to take home a prize.


5. Have an iPod and speaker system set up to play ballroom or waltz music. Hire a professional dancer to teach all the party guests ballroom or waltz dance moves.


6. Give guests party favors like recipes that were at the party, a souvenir mask, elegant candle pr souvenir beads. You can even give each guest a homemade frame, decorated with feathers, a rhinestone mask or other decorations.
