Red-colored Rooster Crafts

Red roosters have become a popular theme for kitchen decorating.

Children love roosters for their "Cock-a-doodle-doo" song. Adults love roosters for their beautiful crowns and unique personalities. The red rooster is particularly admired for his beauty. Even if you don't live on a farm, you can have your very own red rooster. These roosters may be made of craft materials, but any children in the house are sure to add an element of realism by providing lifelike crowing -- maybe even at the crack of dawn.

Footprint Rooster

Incorporate a child's footprint into a rooster craft to make a rooster that is truly one of a kind. Dip the bottom of the child's foot in a plate of red finger paint. Press her foot onto a sheet of white paper. This will make a side view of a rooster head with the toe portion of the print representing the rooster's crown. Add a googly eye and a small orange triangle beak. Place a red thumbprint beneath the beak for a waddle.

Disposable Cup Rooster

This rooster can sit next to your bed to bring a touch of the farm to your morning. Use a red plastic cup to make this rooster. Add feathers by gluing craft feathers, strips of red tissue paper or pieces of red crepe paper all around the cup. Use extra feathers on top for the crown. Add googly eyes, a construction paper beak and a red strip of paper as a waddle.

Stuffed Rooster

You don't need to sew to make this stuffed rooster, because he is made out of construction paper and glue. Cut out two identical red construction paper copies of a rooster. Place the roosters one on top of the other so that the edges line up exactly. Join the paper roosters with glue around the top and sides. Stuff lightly with cotton balls and glue the bottom closed. Use markers to add details.

Hand print Rooster

A hand-print rooster is particularly fun because he functions as a stick puppet upon completion. Use a 6-inch diameter red paper plate as the head. Trace both of the child's hand prints onto red construction paper and cut the prints out. Create a side view of the rooster's head by gluing one hand print at the top center of the plate as the rooster's crown and one hand print upside down, slightly off center at the bottom of the plate as the waddle. Add a construction paper beak, googly eyes and a wooden craft stick handle.
