Types Of Partridges
There are many types of partridges, but none fly very well and they prefer to stay on the ground. The most common are chukar and Hungarian partridges. Hungarian partridges are more difficult to raise but lucrative to sell.

Hungarian patridges require lots of room to roam or are prone to aggressive behavior, including feather pulling and cannibalism. Raising chukars is easier, so this will be the baseline for partridge breeding. An acre of land or more would give the birds space to thrive. The average cost for an acre of land is about $250. A hundred chukar partridges, bought while chicks at 80 cents apiece, will cost about $800. Variable costs, such as feed, utilities and supplies, will run about $2,500.
