Paint Set
Arts and crafts projects can be a relaxing hobby or a great way for families to spend time together. Arts and crafts projects make great decorative items for around the house, gift ideas and even a way to make a little extra money on the side at flea markets and craft fairs. You can do countless arts and crafts projects to put your creativity to use. Here are some exciting arts and crafts projects you can make alone or with the whole family.
Gift Baskets
Baskets are ideal for gift giving. You can purchase gift baskets and then decorate them with special fabrics, glitter and fake flowers, then fill the gift basket with special items suited to the person you're giving the gift basket to. If you want the entire basket to be homemade, you can buy materials in craft and hobby stores for weaving your own baskets. You can make birthday baskets, Christmas and other holiday baskets, or even specialized baskets such as a fisherman's special, decorated with fisherman-themed cloth and little plastic fish, and filled with gifts your favorite fisherman will enjoy.
Custom Candles
Candle making is fun and easy to do. You can purchase wax, wicks and various scents at hobby and craft shops. The good thing about candle making is that you can do candles in just about any shape you want by pouring wax into molds. This is a great way to make gifts for just about anyone. You can find molds in the shape of cars, musical instruments, cottages, fruits and flowers. Most hobby and craft stores carry a large selection of candle-making supplies, including molds.
Craft Stick Projects
Craft sticks (Popsicle sticks) can be purchased in bulk at a reasonable price. Craft sticks, glue, acrylic paints, beads, glitter, and feathers are useful for making many different craft projects that can be enjoyed by the whole family. You can use craft sticks to make houses, bridges, business card holders, jewelry boxes or even picture frames.
Wax Painting
Wax painting is a fun project, especially for kids. All you need is paper, crayons, and black paint. Draw and color a picture onto the paper with crayons, avoiding dark colors like black, brown or navy blue. The lighter and brighter the colors, the better they will stand out when your picture is finished. After you've drawn your picture and colored it, brush black acrylic paint over the drawing. The paint won't stick to the wax, but it will settle onto the paper where no wax is present, creating a dark background that makes your drawing stand out. These works of art make great decor for a kid's room.
