Styrofoam cones make beautiful holiday decorations.
If you are someone who enjoys making your own holiday decorations and having the family chip in to help, then this Styrofoam cone Christmas tree centerpiece may be just the thing for you. Styrofoam cone decorations are beautiful and easy to make, and you can personalize them to meet your own special sense of style. With just a few items, you can turn a plain cone into a spectacular, one-of-a-kind work of art. Plan to buy a saucer to hold the tree that is large enough to have plenty of room for holiday candy, holly, tinsel or other kind of holiday decoration to surround your tree.
Instructions
1. Determine the size of the centerpiece you want to make, and get a Styrofoam cone of that size. Buy a plant saucer that is two to three times larger in diameter than the diameter of the cone you choose.
2. Decide on a color scheme for your centerpiece. You will need spray paint, which will be the base color of your cone and plant saucer. Then choose foil cupcake liners, miniature Christmas tree ornaments and enough ribbon to go around the perimeter of the saucer to match the color scheme. Do not buy foil liners with paper lining.
3. Spray paint the cone and saucer separately, and wait for each to dry thoroughly. When dry to the touch, use the hot glue gun to attach the cone to the saucer, being sure to center it in the middle of the saucer.
4. Hot glue the foil cupcake liners all around the cone, making sure to have them fit up close to each other but not to reduce the size of the liner. When the foil liners are all attached, hot glue a miniature Christmas tree ball, or other decoration you purchased, into the center of each foil liner. Step back, and look at your tree; fill in any holes you see by hot gluing the small sprigs of decorations you bought.
5. Hot glue the ribbon around the top outside perimeter of the plant saucer. Fill the saucer with the candy or decorations you purchased. Place the decorated tree in the middle of your table or on the mantel.
