Real eggs can be fragile, but you can use various other materials to create egg-shaped dioramas.
A diorama can provide fun and fascination for creator and viewer alike. The craftsperson must think of how to create a realistic representation of a miniature world, and the viewer will find it fun to see the intricate detail of a diorama. Dioramas make useful teaching tools that not only show kids how to perform certain crafting techniques but teach hand-eye coordination. Dioramas can also become home decor items and season decorations. An egg diorama can be a fun craft, decoration or learning tool.
Balloon Egg Diorama
Make a large egg diorama out of a balloon and other craft material. Glue newspaper strips to the inflated balloon. Allow it to dry, and continue to add layers. Glue on some colorful tissue paper squares as the last few layers, and allow it to dry. Pop the balloon, and cut a hole in the paper. Glue crumpled tissue or curling ribbon around the hole, and add a ribbon to the top. Fill the balloon with small small items such as a stuffed animal (a chick or bunny, for example) or a spring flower.
Shoebox Egg Diorama
Create a nature-inspired diorama inside a standard shoebox turned on its side with its lid removed. Paint the inside of the box with light blue on top to represent the sky, and green on the bottom to represent the grass. Create a bird's nest from raffia, and put it on the grass in the shoebox. Put small eggs in the next. If you can't find eggs at a craft store, use real eggs or candy eggs. Purchase feathered bird at craft or dollar stores, and place them in the scene.
Plastic Egg Diorama
Use a plastic Easter egg to create a diorama. Fill the bottom part of a plastic Easter egg with shredded green paper to resemble grass. Put other embellishments inside the egg such as smaller candy eggs, a small bunny or chick, a flower or butterfly. Replace the top of the egg, and decorate the exterior. Put a ribbon or rickrack border along where the egg divides.
Ham Can Diorama
Create an entire spring day scene, including birds, eggs and trees, within a ham can. Clean and remove all labels to a ham can. Paint the interior to look like a spring scene with blossoming trees, a bright blue sky with white clouds and green grass. Gather a branch from the backyard, and trim it to fit into the can. Use putty to hold it in place. Make a small bird's nest out of shredded brown paper, and glue it to the branch. Create eggs from clay, or use egg-shaped beads to put into the nest. Finish the project by decorating the exterior of the ham can with paint and ribbons.
