Fundraiser Suggestions For A Christmas Fair

Table at a Christmas Fair

In order to raise maximum profits with a fundraising venture, you must spend as little as possible and sell as high as possible. It is best to plan for this well ahead of time. By doing so, you can catch sales, negotiate deals with local businesses, and have crafts made in time to sell them. When fundraising, aim toward what people need or what makes their lives easier, and you will come up with some winning ideas.

Gift Wrapping Booth

Many people at the fair will be looking for Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones. Make some fliers announcing your gift wrapping booth and where it is located. Ask permission, and place the fliers on the sellers' tables. Purchase Christmas wrapping paper, bows, tape and ribbon at the local dollar store to keep expenses down. Use volunteers from your organization to do the wrapping, and charge customers according to the size of the item to be wrapped. This is convenient for the customer and profitable for your organization.

Bundles of Cut Wood

This project will need to be done ahead of time, as wood needs time to dry before it is burned in a fireplace. Get permission from someone with a large wooded lot or the local government, and cut down some small trees. Cut the wood into pieces that will fit in a fireplace, and tie them into small bundles with either twine or wire. Sell the bundles at the fair for a few dollars a bundle. Even people in the south light up their fireplaces for Christmas.

Christmas Wreaths

Wreaths always sell well at Christmas, especially live evergreen ones. Have volunteers from your organization make some wreaths from fresh pine or spruce. The sprigs can be easily wired or hot glued to a round wire frame. Decorate the wreaths with ribbon or small Christmas ornaments. Twist a small piece of wire on the hanger in the back so the wreath can be hung from a door. This project has very little overhead, and the wreaths will sell for $10 to $15.

Crafts

Ask the people in your organization to make holiday crafts and donate them. If there aren't many crafty people in your group, have those who do make crafts put together a list of necessary items, and purchase them at the local craft store. Then have several craft nights before the fair, when everyone can help make the crafts. Festive, homemade crafts are always in demand at Christmas fairs. The crafts can include ornaments, candles and Christmas potholders, just to name a few.

Food

One of the most popular tables at any Christmas fair has the baked goods and homemade jams and jellies. Ask all those in your organization to make a couple of baked goods or donate some of their homemade preserved goods. You will make lots of money and there will be nothing left on the table to take home or discard when the fair is over.
