Have lots of colors from which the girls can choose.
Makeover parties are fun for girls from very young ages to teens. The specifics of each party will vary depending on the age of the girls, but the key is for it to be a glamorous event where every girl feels like a star, especially the birthday girl. Planning the event takes time, so get started early.
Invitations
On the invitations, convey a sense of glamor and beauty. Create an invitation with before-and-after pictures of the birthday girl, with the before picture on the outside and the after picture on the inside. Another way to create the invitation is to have it made out of card stock and to do it yourself. Cut out the shape of a purse and decorate it using a small feather boa, glitter and glitter pens. Write the important information, including what the girls should bring. It is a good idea for them to bring their own make-up, if they have any, for hygiene reasons.
Decorations
Decorate with colors such as purple, white and silver. These are girly, glamorous colors that will set the mood for the party. Use a lavender shade of purple because it is glamorous but still relaxing. Hang a black or white sheet on a wall. This is where you will take pictures of the girls after their makeovers. Set up stations for different parts of the makeover. You need to have a facial station, hair station, makeup station and dressing station. Set up large mirrors or an individual mirror for each girl at each station.
Food
Serve finger foods and small appetizers such as cucumber sandwiches or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Since it is a glamorous party, stay away from greasy foods such as pizza. For snacks, have healthy, baked chips, not greasy potato chips, and small candies. Most important are the drinks. Serve virgin versions of drinks like Mai Tais and Margaritas in fancy glasses. Have one signature drink for your party, like a fizzy pineapple drink. Give it a special name.
Activities
Start your night out by taking a picture of each girl when she gets there. Let them look at magazines and choose the look each one wants to achieve. Then let them get started. First, have a section where they put masks on their faces and get mini facials. Give each girl cucumber slices for her eyes as well. Next, let them split up between the makeup and hair stations. Have available everything they will need in case they forgot or don't have any makeup. Put hairspray, gel and curling and straightening irons at the hair station. Then have a station where they can dress up in different clothes. They can bring clothes from home or you can provide clothes. The choice of clothes depends on the age of the girls. At a child's party, the girls can dress up in oversized clothes with feather boas and high heels; however teens will want clothes that fit them and make them look good. After each girl is dressed up, take a picture of her in front of the sheet. After the makeover they can play with the clothes or you can set up an area where they can dance.
