This costume is elaborate, but you can make simple cat ears at home in minutes.
When it comes to kids, it's a given that they love animals and playing pretend. When they can pretend to be animals, even better. Kids do a pretty good job of pretending, but you can make play time even more fun by helping them create costume pieces such as furry cat ears. This project not only allows the kids freedom of expression by making their own cat ears their way, but also involves them in art and pretend. For a small monetary and time investment, making cat ears gives a child hours of entertainment.
Instructions
1. Hot glue the end of a black feather boa to the end of a plastic headband.
2. Wrap the boa around the headband so that the plastic is covered by feather boa and is not visible.
3. Secure the boa to the other end of the plastic headband with hot glue. Trim off any remaining feather boa.
4. Trim four triangles of black craft foam to the same size as the cardboard cut triangles (use the cardboard triangles as a guide).
5. Staple one foam triangle to each side of the cardboard triangles.
6. Hot glue the foam-covered triangles to either side of the headband where the cat's ears would go.
7. Use the other feather boa to trim the foam ears by hot gluing it onto each ear and trimming off any excess boa.
8. Allow glue to dry thoroughly (10-15 minutes) before wearing the cat ears.
