Liven up your boring cleaning gloves by adding embellishments.
Embellished cleaning gloves make clever presents for bridal showers or housewarming gifts. They typically feature rubber gloves with a ruffled cuff added to the top and a rhinestone "ring" on one of the fingers. The frivolous nature of these embellished gloves makes cleaning chores, such as washing dishes, a playful experience instead of a dreary one. Make a pair of designer cleaning gloves to keep for yourself or give to a friend.
Instructions
1. Cut a long strip of tulle or netting so the width is twice the amount you want the ruffled cuff to be and the length is at least twice the circumference of the top of the glove.
2. Fold the tulle in half. Baste stitch through the bottom of the tulle, then pull on the thread to gather it into a ruffle.
3. Spread glue onto the top edge of the glove with a stick or other applicator. Press the basted edge of the tulle into the glue. Glue ribbon over the top of the edge of tulle to hide it. Add a bow if desired.
4. Draw a line around the ring finger of the glove with a metallic marker to represent the band of a ring.
5. Apply glue to the back of the rhinestone with a stick or other applicator. Press the acrylic rhinestone to the top of finger that the ring band was drawn on.
6. Let glue dry fully before using the gloves.
