Flower pins
made from crochet doilies add new life to an old, ugly bedspread.
If you have an old bedspread that doesn't fit your current room decor, but is still in good condition, don't throw it away. It's simple to add decorative flower pins to give an old, ugly bedspread new life. The best thing about this project is you can remove the decorative accents when you need to wash the bedspread or change it out for the holidays.
Instructions
1. Lay the circle template on top of a felt sheet. Trace the circle with chalk. Cut out the circle with the pinking shears. Repeat this for each decorative flower you want to make.
2. Pinch a crochet doily in the center to create a flower. Secure it in place using a few sewing stitches. Carefully snip off any extra bulk in the gather. Turn it over and place a small amount of fabric glue in the center of the flower and press a ribbon rose securely in the glue.
3. Layer a crochet doily flower on top of a felt circle. You can leave the felt circle flat or use the same technique you used for the doilies to create gathered flowers. Attach a safety pin to your flower, being sure to pierce both layers.
4. Attach flower pins in a pleasing arrangement on your bedspread.
