Reuse your Halloween feather boas to cover your basement poles.
Basement poles help hold up your house, but they are eyesores when you are trying to finish your basement. Basement poles may be made of wood or steel, but they are hard to miss. Whether you have one or more in your basement, use different types of trim to give the pole a more finished look that matches your home. There is no reason to suffer with bare basement poles when you can easily give them a more elegant look by decorating them.
Instructions
1. Paint the pole using paint and a paintbrush. A simple coat of paint in an attractive color can give even the homeliest pole a more attractive appearance. Match the paint to the décor in the basement or give it a fun, eclectic look by painting it in a bright and lively color.
2. Attach bands of flexible molding to the top and bottom of the basement pole using wood glue. Flexible molding is made out of a limber resin, allowing you to wrap it around the pole easily. This is ideal when the pole itself is in good shape and you just want to add a small amount of décor to it.
3. Attach one end of a long fake ivy vine to the top of the pole using hot glue and then wrap it around the pole in a spiral going downward. Attach the vine to to the pole as you go using hot glue, which will allow it to stick to the pole more securely. This gives your basement a natural, organic look.
4. Attach one end of a feather boa to the top of the pole using hot glue and wrap it around the pole itself, covering the pole entirely in fluffy feathers. Use hot glue to attach the boa to the pole and to add another boa if necessary. A feather boa trim is ideal for a basement that is used as a rec room or a family room.
