Bug clippies can be attached to bobby pins, snap clips or alligator clips.
If you thought bugs were just for boys, think again. Bug hair clips make adorable spring and summer accessories for little girls. When ladybugs, dragonflies and butterflies are made out of ribbon, little girls are happy to have them in their hair. Whatever bug you decide to make, you need antennae to complete the clip. With a few snips and a lighter, you can transform a scrap of ribbon into antennae for your bug clippie.
Instructions
1. Cut the ribbon along both long edges to create two 1-cm wide strips. Discard the center strip and keep the two narrow edge strips.
2. Pinch one end of one of the strips of ribbon inside the tip of an alligator clip. Keep your fingers on the clip and quickly pass the strip of ribbon through the flame of the cigarette lighter to seal it.
3. Hold the clip and ribbon strip 1 inch above the flame of the cigarette lighter until the ribbon strip begins to curl. Remove the strip of ribbon from the alligator clip.
4. Place the second strip of ribbon in the alligator clip. Use the cigarette lighter to seal and curl the strip of ribbon in the same manner as you did the first one.
5. Hot-glue the antennae to the back of the bug's head before attaching the bug to the clip.
