Big hats work great for most of these dress-up games.
Simple dress-up can be fun, but making a game out of it can make for even more excitement. Dress-up games are perfect for a girl's birthday party, sleepover or any large gathering of young ladies. Most of these game ideas work for young school-aged girls and even for girls in high school. Be sure to keep a camera handy to capture some of the hilarious fashions that may come up during the festivities.
Make Under Game
This game is appropriate for girls old enough to play with make up. Place an assortment of make-up out on a table. Have the girls grab an assortment what they like. The girl should sit in a circle and put a bottle in the middle, like Spin-the-Bottle. Whoever goes first will spin the bottle. The person that the bottle points to will get to give a make-under to the girl in the middle. A make-under is the opposite of a make-over. It's a silly, funny and crazy looking make-over. Other accessories like wigs, feather boas and old clothes would also work well for this game.
Unconventional Fashion Show
This dress-up game will bring out the artist in the girls who play this. Using unconventional items you find around the house such as aluminum foil, old paper towel tubes, newspaper, tape, string, yarn, plastic wrap and anything else you can find, challenge the girls to design the their very own fashion show. Each girl will design their own outfit, and once they're all finished, they can flaunt their creations by walking down your own makeshift runway.
Musical Fashion Game
Take a bunch of silly, out-of-style clothing items such a giant glasses, old bright dresses, big hats or anything else that's funny looking and put it inside of a garbage or laundry bag. The girls should sit in a circle, just like in musical chairs. Music should play and the bag should be passed around. When the music stops, the girl who is holding the bag must pull out an item and wear whatever she pulls out. Continue until the entire bag is emptied.
Dress-Up Scavenger Hunt
Each girl must complete a full outfit, except pieces of the outfit are hidden throughout your home, property or party space. As the girls find each piece, the next piece contains a clue as to where the following piece might be. This can be especially fun if each outfit is themed so that no girls can accidentally pick another girl's outfit. For instance, someone who is looking for a cowgirl's skirt should know better than to pick up a pair of sparkly disco pants.
