The barong is a delicate piece of traditional Filipino formalwear decorated with intricate embroidery. This tunic-like clothing item can be produced in a variety of ways, and is often made of hand-woven fabric from pineapple leaf fibers. It doesn't take much time to follow the proper cleaning guidelines to help preserve the barong's original condition.
Instructions
1. Create a cleaning solution by adding one part mild soap to five parts tepid water, and pour this into a basin.
2. Dip the barong into the basin until the entire length of the fabric is soaked.
3. Take a soft toothbrush and use it to gently rub away at any dirt or other stains on the garment.
4. Rinse the barong well using room-temperature water, then lay it down on a towel and roll the towel up.
5. Hang the barong on a plastic or cloth hanger in a cool, dry area rack and allow it to dry overnight.
