Steps To Make A Sexy Costume Yourself

Wear red lipstick with your sexy Halloween costume.

Choosing a sexy costume for Halloween can be just as challenging as making one. There are many to choose from, but some are more difficult to make than others. To simplify your life, select a sexy costume you can create with little difficulty. A 1920s flapper costume is one to consider because you can easily turn your little black dress back in time with just a needle and thread and some fringe. Add a few other accessories to it and you have a Halloween costume that is sure to turn heads.

Instructions

1. Put on your black dress and take your measurements, starting at the neckline. Measure around your body at the level of the neckline and under your armpits. Write the measurement down on a piece of paper; then measure around your body, 3 inches down from that measurement, and write that number down. Go down another 3 inches and measure around your body again and record the figure. Continue to take your measurements and continue to record the numbers, moving down 3 inches each time, until you reach the bottom of your dress. Total the figures and add an extra 36 inches to the total to determine how much fringe you will need.

2. Pin the fringe to your dress while you are still wearing it, starting from under your arm and going around your body with it until you wind up under your arm again. Cut the row of fringe with your scissors; then start under your arm again, pinning the next row of fringe to the dress 3 inches down from the first row. Continue with the next row and then the next until you reach the bottom of the dress. Be careful not to stick yourself with the safety pins.

3. Slip out of your dress and baste the fringe to the dress. Remove all the pins when you are done.

4. Sew the fringe in place using your sewing machine and then remove the basting stitches.

5. Measure around your head, from your forehead to the back of your head, and cut a piece of stretchable sequin trim to match this measurement. Sew the ends together to make a headband and then sew a black feather to the wrong side of the front of the headband, so the feather sticks up.

6. Put on your flapper dress, your fishnet stockings, your garter, your gloves, your choker, your platform shoes, your beads and your feather headband. Wear your headband with the feather positioned in the center of your forehead and wrap your feather boa around your shoulders.
