Diy Black & Whitened Backyard Wedding Decor

White flowers, such as lilies, add elegance to the decor.

A backyard provides an intimate setting to celebrate the day that two people officially join their lives together. It's important to fit the wedding to the specific yard depending on its size and any obstacles that may be present, but there are certain steps that can be taken to make any celebration elegant. Choosing a black and white color scheme creates a classic look that can easily be updated with contemporary accessories for a visually appealing wedding.

Instructions

1. Place the ceremonial arch in a spot in the backyard where the guests will have a clear view of the wedding ceremony. Cover the ceremonial arch with white flowers and secure with floral wire or tape. Place enough chairs for the guests in front of the ceremonial arch, choosing black chairs or chairs with black cushions if available.

2. Decorate the end of each row of chairs near the aisle with a grouping of white flowers. Place one bunch of white flowers on each arm closest to the aisle and attach the stems with white floral tape or wire by wrapping it around the arm of the chair. White flowers include carnations, calla lilies, roses and lilies-of-the-valley. Choose one variety to use throughout or group different varieties together.

3. Set the tent up in an open area large enough for the tables to be under it. Choose enough tables for the number of guests that you're expecting. Place the tables underneath the tent with chairs around the tables. Cover the tables with black tablecloths.

4. Arrange white linen napkins on the tables for the guests to use. Choose plates that are either plain white or black and white patterned and place them on the tables for the guests.

5. Choose table centerpieces that use both black and white elements, such as white flowers with black feathers. Place black and white candles of different shapes and sizes around the centerpieces. Choose a black box with a white bow for your favors and place these directly in front of each guest's place at the table.

6. Affix white flowers to the backs of the chairs, particularly if you're able to locate black chairs for the guests to sit on. Choose one specific flower or an array of different ones and use white or black floral tape or wire to tie the stems of the flowers to the back of the chair near the top.

7. Place small white lights around the inside edges of the tent if the wedding is at night. Wrap white lights around bushes or trees in the backyard. This will provide an elegant glow to the yard.
