Use silver and white sequins to create a custom centerpiece.
White centerpieces are both elegant and versatile. They are used in a number of events, from baby showers to weddings, and events during the winter holiday season. While white roses are a traditional staple in white centerpieces, go a step beyond the standard and create some unique centerpieces that are both stunning and original.
Flowerless
It's easy to find white flowers for a centerpiece, but skip them altogether if you want to create something truly original. Instead, fill glass jars or cubes with white pebbles, and insert objects other than flowers into the pebbles. Tall, fluffy white feathers, for example, make a romantic statement when used as centerpieces. Take the effect a step further, and illuminate your glass jars by coiling a strand of battery-powered white lights among the white pebbles.
Hanging Candles
Fill a tall, sturdy white container, such as a ceramic pitcher, with rocks, and add several tree branches to the container. Strip the branches of the bark first to make them look whiter. Hang tiny votive or tea light candles on the branches. Many candle holders are sold with handles that are ideal for this centerpiece. The look is unique but cozy.
Sparkle and Shimmer
Create sparkle and shimmer by making your own ornamental centerpieces. Fill a long, low crystal bowl with sparkling white balls. This look is ideal for Christmas or holiday parties. Use Styrofoam balls, and cover them with silver and white beads and sequins. Simply spray the balls with glue, and roll them in the beads, or, if you want to create elaborate designs, use a hot glue gun and add the beads one at a time. This process is a terrific way to customize your centerpieces as you can add initials to the balls or use specific shades of white to match the event.
Floating Flowers
If you want to include flowers but in a nontraditional way, place floating flowers in a bowl full of water. Start with a gorgeous container, and use white flowers that will hold up while floating without falling apart, such as peonies or hydrangeas. Crowd the surface of the water with the flowers for a dramatic effect, or float one or two flowers with some floating candles for a softer, more romantic feel.
