Hollywood Party Theme

Hollywood Party Theme

Theme parties are always a hit with any crowd. If you're looking for an exciting party idea, consider throwing a Hollywood-themed party. There are many stylish and entertaining ways to pull off this type of party. Your friends will be impressed and you'll all have a blast.

Types

First, decide the area of focus for your party. One idea is a costume party at which your guests could dress as their favorite Hollywood stars. A twist to this type of party would be to choose an era or a specific movie on which to focus. (Note: this could backfire since your guests may not be familiar with your chosen era or movie.) Other possibilities include a red-carpet party or a Hollywood-style movie premiere party.

Considerations

Next, think about whom you'll invite. While the Hollywood theme can work equally well for most age groups (outside of very young children), age-specific activities and accommodations are always a good idea. For example, you could serve martinis and cosmopolitans at an adult party, while a kid party might be better served with chocolate milk. Games for all ages could include trivia questions about movies. For example, you could present Disney movie questions to younger guests.

Features

Hollywood-themed parties must have Hollywood-themed food! This could include something as simple as a cake with a filmstrip decorating the top. You could also serve lots of appetizers on trays, perhaps carried by the host and hostess to each guest. Also, for adult parties, be sure to have pretty cocktail glasses and plenty of cocktails to go around. Champagne is another fitting option. Kid parties might have simpler food like mini corn dogs and movie theater candy.

Function

Be sure to make your guests' evening as glitzy as possible. Begin by getting a red carpet runner to place up your front walk or inside of the front door. These can be inexpensively purchased through most party supply stores. Consider having a few friends (or hiring a couple of teens) stand just off the red carpet snapping pictures as your guests arrive. Later, e-mail the photos or send some in a thank-you card.

Potential

Make a "swag" bag for your guests. Include feather boas, sunglasses, and other shiny things. Also make or order Hollywood stars (like those on the Hollywood Walk of Fame) with the name of each of your guests (or each couple), and give them to your guests as gifts. Encourage your guests to wear their red-carpet best for the evening. If you serve dinner, skip the paper plates and plastic forks and opt for real china and real silver if you have access to it.
