Construction Paper Crafts For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving paper crafts

Thanksgiving decorations do not have to be complicated or time-consuming. Construction paper is the go-to craft supply when making decorations, party favors or Thanksgiving-inspired crafts. Construction paper is cheap and versatile, and you can find it in autumn colors, such as red, orange, yellow and brown. These construction paper crafts will spice up any party, dinner or get-together with extra Thanksgiving spirit.

Autumn Leaves

You can choose construction paper in the colors of fall foliage. For example, orange, red, yellow and brown are some colors that leaves change to before they fall off the tree in winter time. You can either freehand draw leaves, stencil leaves or use real life models of leaves onto the construction paper before you cut them out. If you are decorating for a party, you can disperse the leaves on tables, counter tops or on the ground to make the scene festive. Otherwise, you can also glue or stable the leaves to a long piece of yarn or ribbon and hang as strung leaves.

Paper Turkey

You can use your hands and feet to make a simple paper turkey. The soles of your feet, minus the toes, can serve as the turkey's body. Your traced hands in multiple colors can be the feathers of the turkey's tail. This makes a turkey viewed from the front. To make a paper turkey in side view, trace your hand on construction paper and use your thumb as the neck and head of the turkey.

Name Cards

If you are having a Thanksgiving get-together, party or feast, you can use construction paper to make fun name cards by folding a sheet of construction paper in half. You can write your guest's name on one outer side of the folded paper and decorate with glued on construction paper pumpkins, trees, turkeys, pilgrims or corn on the cob.

Thanksgiving Hats

Thanksgiving hats can spice up any Thanksgiving party or dinner. They can also serve as name tags as well. The kids can have fun making, decorating and wearing the hats. You can make tissue paper flowers to decorate it, but you can also use markers, stickers, glitter or gel pens instead. If you want to get really festive, you can use autumn colors of yellow, orange, red and brown for the construction paper head band bases. Once you have stapled thick strips of construction paper into circular headband crowns, you can use your artistic juices and stickers, markers, glitter or gel pens to decorate the hats.
