How You Can Design A Throne Chair For Any Cinderella Bridal Shower

Paint a chair silver to turn it into a throne.

Your friend has finally met her Prince Charming, and to celebrate you're throwing a Cinderella-themed bridal shower in her honor. Make the bride-to-be feel like a true princess by creating a throne for her to sit upon during the festivities. Before assembling the project, design all the features and embellishments needed to turn a regular chair into a throne. Use the rest of the bridal shower's colors, as well as the bride-to-be's personal tastes, to design a throne made specifically for the Cinderella party.

Instructions

1. Select a chair that you can create the throne design around. Use one that has a high back rest, ideally extending above the bride-to-be's head. If you don't want to make alterations to one of your existing chairs, go to a local thrift store and buy one second-hand.

2. Choose a paint color for the chair. Gold and silver are both classic throne colors, although you can also paint the chair to match the rest of the Cinderella bridal shower's colors, such as light blue or pink. If you don't want to permanently alter the chair with paint, design a chair slipcover from with two pieces of princess-inspired fabrics, such as velvet or sequins, which will slide over the backrest.

3. Design a pillow that the princess can sit upon. Measure the chair's seat to see how long and wide the pillow can be. Select a plush fabric, such as velvet, to make the pillow from. Plan to create the pillow yourself or hire a professional seamstress to bring it to life.

4. Plan ways to adorn the chair. Buy plastic rhinestones and sequins from a craft store to glue along the arms, backrest and legs of the throne. Find colorful ribbons to tie in bows around the chair. Drape a feather boa around the top of the throne for a modern princess look. Sketch a design to paint on the back of the chair, such as the bride-to-be's monogram.

5. Design a stage and backdrop for the throne. Select a place at the bridal shower venue that's elevated above the rest of the area, such as a raised patio. Find a place where you can hang fabric overhead to drape around the throne, and buy a flowing material, such as tulle, to create this backdrop. Select a material to make a carpet with or make plans to buy some flower petals on the day of the bridal shower. Place the carpet or petals leading toward the decorated throne.

6. Sketch your throne design on a piece of paper, noting all the colors, fabrics and materials needed to complete the project. Gather all the necessary materials, and invite other members of the bridal party and those involved with the bridal shower to help bring the design to life.
