Making handmade fabric chicken crafts is a creative way to show your appreciation of the beauty of these farm animals. There are many different breeds of chickens, each with different colored feathers. This diversity encourages the use of scrap fabrics to create out-the-box designs. Chicken crafts make great gifts for people with homes decorated in a rustic style, or those with fond memories of growing up on a farm. Oven Mitts
All cooks appreciate a good oven mitt. Make an adorable chicken-shaped mitt from two pieces of fabric cut in the shape of a chicken. Feed Sack Pillows
Recycle old feed sacks into eco-chic pillows. Obtain a feed sack with images of chickens. Cut rectangles or squares from the sack the same size as your finished pillow, plus one-half inch for seam allowances. Sew the right sides of the fabric together, leaving one side open for turning and stuffing the pillow. Trim off any excess corner fabric at an angle to reduce bulk, then turn the pillow casing right side out. Poke out the corners to make them square and insert a premade pillow form or stuffing of your choice. Hand stitch the opening closed to finish the pillow, making sure to turn the raw edges inside .
