Go as a fairy and grant wishes at the party.
Chances are you already have the makings of a costume in your own closet. Hit up costume shops and thrift stores to find the rest. Find inspiration from women in different eras in history or from famous movies and icons. Pick a costume that lets you adopt a persona for the evening's festivities and live the part.
Hula Dancer
Practice your dance moves for a hula dancer costume.
Have your own luau with a hula dancer costume. Wear a bikini if you're not afraid to show skin or a tank top if you are more conservative. Wear your hair down and wavy and tuck a tropical flower behind one ear. You can purchase a grass skirt from a party supply store, or make your own using a waistband and strips of green fabric or plastic. Put on a lei and wear earthy sandals.
Dorothy
Dress up as Dorothy from the classic movie The Wizard of Oz. Wear a white blouse and a blue and white checkered jumper. Pull on simple white socks and a pair of ruby slippers. You can wear regular red shoes, or dress them up by gluing on red glitter or red rhinestones found at craft stores. Carry a small basket in your arm with a tiny stuffed dog inside to represent Toto. Braid your hair in pigtails or wear it loose and curly. Secure a blue bow or two in your hair and declare that "There's no place like home."
Cleopatra
Go as royalty for your costume party and dress up as Cleopatra. Wear a long white dress with a gold trimmed neckline. Use a piece of shimmery gold fabric as a sash around your waist. Wear a black wig and affix a gold headpiece. Wear gold bracelets, anklets and arm bands and put on strappy gold sandals. Make dramatic eyes with eyeliner and mascara and brush on iridescent eye shadow.
Flapper
Be independent in your flapper costume.
Enjoy dancing around in your flapper costume, a throwback to the liberal women of the 1920s. Wear a knee-length dress with lots of fringe. Wear black hose or tights and black high heels. Wear your hair in the bob style or wear a wig. Attach a headpiece around the wig and stick a feather in one side. Put on a string of pearls, carry around a feathery boa and dance to your own drummer.
Betty Boop
With the right dress, you can pull off a Betty Boop costume with ease. Select a red, strapless dress that hits above the knee. Wear flesh-colored hose and red high heels. Pull on a short, black, curly wig. Go for bold makeup with dark mascara and bright red lipstick.
