Crafts For Any Barbie dolls Party

Crafts for a Barbie Party

Since the Barbie doll debuted in 1959, girls around the world have been captivated with collecting Barbie dolls, as well as clothes and accessories for them. Because of the continual popularity of the doll, Barbie themed birthday parties are popular with girls. When throwing a Barbie party for young girls, offer craft activities to keep them entertained.

Barbie Jewelry

Since Barbie is known for her fashion and accessories, set up a table for the girls to create their own Barbie necklaces and bracelets. Pour different colored beads into plastic containers to make it easy for the girls to find the beads they want to use. Purchase elastic banding for the guests to string their beads on to. This craft provides entertainment and can also be used as a party favor for each girl to take home. This activity works best for children over the age of five because the beads can pose as a choking hazard.

Decorate a Mirror

Plain plastic framed mirrors are inexpensive to buy in bulk and are available at most craft stores. Buy one mirror for each guest plus Barbie stickers, stick-on craft gems, ribbon and beads. Arrange all of the supplies on the table top, and place one mirror at each guest place setting. Allow the girls to decorate their own mirror. To add a personal touch, add each girls name onto the mirror using a pink paint pen. This craft is not recommended for girls under the age of five because of the small pieces that can pose as a choking hazard. However, with adult supervision and minor modifications, such as removing the beads, it can be appropriate for all ages.

Barbie Purses

Buy a small undecorated handbag for each guest, and use a fabric pen to write her name on before her arrival. Set the purses out at each place setting along side fabric pens, stick-on rhinestones, stencils and ribbon. Have each girl decorate her own purse. This craft can be combined with others at the party, and the purses can serve as favor bags for the guests to take home with them. This craft is appropriate for children of all ages; however, adult supervision is recommended.

Barbie Picture Frame

Use a digital camera to take a picture of each girl when she arrives at the party. For an extra touch, have small dress up items ready for them to wear when they have their photo taken, such as a feather boa, a tiara or a pair of pink Barbie sunglasses. Purchase plain, pink picture frames for each girl to decorate using Barbie stickers, stick-on gems and ribbon. Print each girls picture out onto photo paper, and insert it into the frame for the girls to take home with them as a favor. This craft is suitable for children of all ages, but adult supervision is recommended. If you are hosting a group of older girls, paint pens or acrylic craft paint can also be used to decorate the frames.
