How You Can Dress Like A Sesame Street Rubber Ducky

The rubber ducky is an enduring symbol of childhood fun.

Making a costume based on Ernie's beloved rubber ducky is simple and fun. You can make the costume to fit an adult or child, or both if you'd like to create coordinating costumes. This can also be a fun craft activity for kids; let them help create the costume by choosing where to place the feathers and helping to glue things down with craft glue. Best of all, this costume is warm, comfortable and durable, making it a great choice for chilly trick-or-treating nights.

Instructions

1. Place one of the shoes you or the child will wear on top of a piece of orange felt. Trace around the shoe, leaving 1 inch of extra felt all the way around. Draw three peaks at the toe area to create webbed duck feet. Repeat with the other shoe.

2. Cut out the duck feet, and place them over the shoes. Mark the opening to the shoe with a sharpie.

3. Fold the felt in half, and cut an asterisk shape where you marked to create an opening for the ankle. When you put the costume on, secure the felt feet to shoes with double-sided tape.

4. Cut out two pieces of orange felt to fit on the bill of the baseball hat. Secure one of the pieces to the top of the bill with craft- or hot-glue.

5. Glue the other piece of felt to the underside of the hat's bill. For this piece, only glue the side edges down, allowing it to hang down under the hat like an open duck bill.

6. Glue the wiggly eyes to the hat just above the bill.

7. Pull or cut feathers from the feather boa, and stick them all over the sweat suit or sleeper with hot glue. Allow everything a few hours to dry before use.
