Hang miniature presents from the tree.
Simple crafts can enhance the warmth of your home for family and friends who come together at the Christmas holiday season. Easy and inexpensive to make, Christmas craft decorations can serve both as centerpieces of your decor and as accent pieces. They're also likely to draw praise and conversation for the creative, home-made touch you've added to the festivities.
Miniature Presents
Create miniature present decorations to hang from your tree, or to display on a mantle or other decorated surface. Buy pieces of foam at the craft store and cut them down to small cubes. Vary the sizes or keep them uniform, as suits you creative whim; for the miniature theme, however, it works best to make them no more than two inches long, wide or high. Wrap them in paper that matches the color scheme of your home. Foil wrap will reflect your Christmas lights for a lovely effect. Seal the wrap with glue rather than tape, which can dull the look of the paper and take up a great deal of the exposed area. Glitter pipe cleaners make great bows, from which you can hang the presents
Peacock Wreath
Peacock feathers are bright and elegant. The naturally long and colorful feathers make this a welcome alternative for a holiday wreath, reducing the amount of glitter, paint and brightening materials you will need. Use a foam wreath as the base, available at any basic craft store. You should be able to find a green one, otherwise, paint it completely green so no white will show through the feathers. Use a spray adhesive glue to attach both peacock sword feathers and eye feathers to the wreath, wrapping them around the front and sides of the foam. Use other green feathers to fill in the gaps and a ribbon to tie it to your door.
Peppermint Stripe Christmas Centerpiece
Peppermint candies, such as candy canes and swirls, are traditional Christmas sweets. Make a peppermint-themed centerpiece that adds bright red colors with whimsical patterns and designs to your Christmas table. Cut circles out of bright white card stock. Use a fire engine red paint to create swirly designs and pin wheel patterns on the circles. Use a spray glue to add crystal glitter, giving the circles a "candy coating." Give each peppermint "candy" a skewer post and display the group in a white ceramic vase. Use different circle sizes and skewer lengths to fill out your peppermint bouquet.
