Steps To Make Rhinestone Headbands

How to Make Rhinestone Headbands

A rhinestone headband is the perfect way to add a bit of sparkle to your outfit. Use clear rhinestones, and you'll have subtle sparkle everywhere you go. Use colored rhinestones, and you can create an entire wardrobe of headbands to match your favorite outfits. Best of all, they're easy to make and relatively inexpensive. Most craft stores sell bulk packages of multicolored rhinestones, as well as packages sorted by color and shape.

Instructions

1. Sketch out your design before you buy rhinestones or a headband. Decide if you want to cover the headband in stones, alternate colors, cluster stones for an art deco look or alternate stone shapes.

2. Buy flat-backed rhinestones, which are available at any craft store, and a headband. Plastic headbands or fabric-covered headbands work best. If you have a wide face, look for a thick headband; if you have a narrow face, choose a narrow headband.

3. Stand your glue gun on a sheet of wax paper and plug it in. The wax paper will catch any drips from the glue gun, keeping your work surface clean and safe.

4. Use tweezers to pick up the first rhinestone.

5. Apply hot glue to the bottom of a rhinestone and place it on the headband, according to your design sketch.

6. Pinch the rhinestone onto the headband and count to 10. This will give the glue a chance to set.

7. Glue the rest of the rhinestones onto the headband.

8. Let your new rhinestone headband sit for an hour to make sure the glue is completely dry.
