Ducks are beautiful birds with various colors, wide wingspans and intricate migratory flock patterns. However, they're also funny birds with their waddling walk and quacking talk. If your friend or relative loves ducks, you have plenty of options in choosing a novelty gift. Instead of choosing a basic mug or stuffed duck, choose an item your friend may not have ever received before.
Duck Calls
For someone who collects duck paraphernalia, a duck call could be a perfect addition to the collection. There are many types of duck calls, from an engraved silver duck or a wooden duck. Antique duck calls can be found online or in antique shops. A plastic throw-away duck call is an option for a gag gift.
Duck Phone
Although corded house phones have fallen out of favor to the cell phone, a duck-lover would undoubtably appreciate a phone that not only looks like a duck, but quacks for a ringtone. Even if it isn't used as a phone, it could make for a conversation piece.
Duck Hat
The "bill" of a baseball hat is called that for a reason: it's reminiscent of a duck bill. Therefore, it's not a mystery that duck hats exist. There are hats for purchase with orange bills and eyes that look like a duck. You can also create a duck hat yourself. Buy a plain baseball cap at your local craft store, use orange felt to make the bill orange, and paint a face and feathers onto the front of the hat.
Taxidermy Duck
A taxidermy, or stuffed, duck makes for a throughful gift, particularly for the duck hunter. Taxidermists will have ducks stuffed in a flying pose and mounted on a plaque. Older mounts can be found at antique storest.
