How You Can Keep Mildew And Mold Off Home windows And Small Blinds

Moisture and dust can cause mold and mildew growth on windows and blinds.

Mold and mildew grow on nearly anything, including mini blinds and windows, as long as conditions for the growth are favorable. Mold and mildew growth is unattractive, gives off some odor and is simply undesirable in any home. Moisture and dust, even in almost imperceptible quantities, provide a favorable environment for mold and mildew growth. Controlling these two factors will help you keep mold and mildew off your windows and mini blinds.

Instructions

1. Dust windows twice weekly, or more often if you see dust, with a soft cloth. Dust your mini blinds twice each week as well, using a soft cloth or a duster, such as a feather duster, to get both sides of the slats.

2. Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Once a week, spray your windows and your mini blinds with this solution and wipe the windows and blinds clean with a soft cloth. White vinegar cleans and helps kill any mold and mildew spores that may have collected on the glass and the blinds.

3. Turn on a fan in the room and keep it going in times of high humidity. Stagnant, humid air facilitates mold and mildew growth.
