Steps To Make Bottlebrush Table decorations

Dinner parties, weddings and holiday parties all call for delicious food, great lighting and stunning centerpieces. While candles or a vase of flowers are considered classic centerpieces because they work in practically any scenario, there are numerous other possibilities. Bottlebrush tree centerpieces are making a comeback as more people discover the decorative aspects of the nostalgic little trees. You can find bottlebrush trees in craft stores, and centerpieces made with them can be customized for various holidays and special occasions.

Instructions

1. Mix one part bleach with two parts warm water in a large bucket. Bleach will remove the original green color from the trees. Wear protective gloves. Place your trees in the bucket until they reach the desired shade. Rinse them well, place them on paper towels and allow them to dry.

2. Dye your trees following the dye manufacturer's instructions. Popular choices for bottlebrush trees include pastel shades for Easter, white or blue for Christmas, and black and orange for Halloween. Use tweezers to dunk the trees into the dye. Allow your trees to dry overnight.

3. Use acrylic paint to color the base of the trees. Poke a cupcake liner through the base so you avoid getting paint on the tree. Allow the base to dry, then tear away the cupcake liner.

4. Spray the entire tree with a spray adhesive if you want to add some glitter. Sprinkle gold, silver or copper glitter on the tree.

5. Add embellishments to your tree. Hot-glue items such as glass beads, ribbons, pearl baubles and other ornaments to the tree. Another popular option is to wrap a small holiday greetings banner around the tree. Secure the banner to the tree with hot glue.

6. Create a wonderland scene with your decorative trees. Place artificial snow in a medium-size glass jar. Add a bit of glitter to the artificial snow. Set a couple of bottle brush trees in the jar and place in the center of the table. Enhance this decoration by setting a few tea lights around the jar. Another option is to set your bottlebrush trees on a silver tray and place metallic ornaments on the tray.

7. Create an adorable Easter scene with your decorative trees. Glue metallic and pastel-colored ornaments to the trees. Glue small pink and yellow fuzzy chicks to the tree. Place pastel-colored trees in shallow glass bowls and surround the bowls with plastic eggs, plastic bunnies and artificial grass. Finish the display by adding some artificial spring flowers, such as tulips, lavenders or cherry blossoms.

8. Create a spooky scene for Halloween with orange and black bottlebrush trees. Hot-glue plastic spiders, bats, witch hats and other creepy-crawly things to the trees.
