Steps To Make A Sunshine Craft

Make a sun-inspired craft using yellow paint.

Help your child make a sunshine-inspired craft to celebrate a warm spring or summer day. You can also make a sunny craft to brighten up a dreary winter day. If you're hosting a child's summer birthday party, have the guests make sunshine art projects using paper plates, yellow paint and other basic craft items. Set up a table filled with the supplies and allow the children's imaginations to run wild.

Instructions

1. Cover a table with newspaper to protect it from paint. Turn a white paper plate upside down and cover the entire surface with sunny yellow craft paint using a small brush. Allow the paint to completely dry.

2. Cut 12 2-inch squares out of bright yellow tissue or construction paper and 12 2-inch squares out of orange paper. Turn the paper plate over so the painted side is down. Glue the squares all around the perimeter of the plate, alternating the yellow and orange paper, as the sun's rays.

3. Attach a small piece of yarn to the back of the plate to create a loop for hanging. Glue just the ends of the yarn to the plate, leaving the middle slack.

4. Turn the paper plate around so the painted side faces up. Use craft glue to attach two plastic googly eyes to the plate. Cut a smiling mouth shape out of black construction paper or craft felt and glue it a few inches under the eyes.
