The pentacle symbol, consisting of a five-pointed star within a circle, has great significance for a wide range of religious and spiritual practices. It most commonly represents either Wicca or Satanism, depending on its pictorial orientation. For those who practice either faith, wearing a pentacle necklace that faces the proper direction can be a way to outwardly represent their convictions to the world.
Instructions
1. Place one point of the star so it's aligned upward when you hang the necklace from your neck, if you want to represent the Wiccan religion or other ancient pagan faith. Upright pentacles also have significance in Celtic, Coptic Gnostic Christian and ancient Israelite culture.
2. Hang the pentacle necklace around your neck with two of the star points facing upward if you wish to represent the Satanist faith. According to Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance, Satanists adopted the inverted pentacle during the 20th century, although it usually also contains a goat head as well.
3. Hang an upward-facing pentacle necklace at any point in your house, car or area where you spend time. In pagan faiths, the pentacle symbolizes protection. Keep it in an area where it's visible as a reminder that you're always protected.
