Steps To Make A Paper Poultry Craft

Paper turkeys are a fun and easy seasonal craft.

Thanksgiving is an exciting time of year symbolized by the colors of the autumn season and by turkeys. Children will love celebrating this time of year by creating a fun seasonal craft that will incorporate symbols and colors of the holiday. Making a paper hand print turkey is the perfect craft for children of all ages. Everything needed to create a paper hand print turkey can be purchased at any craft supply store.

Instructions

1. Trace around your hand.

Place a sheet of brown construction paper down on a flat surface. Place your child's hand onto the paper, and trace around his hand and individual fingers with a pencil. Younger children will need help tracing their hands, but older children can usually manage tracing their own hands.

2. Cut out the shapes.

Cut out the hand print shape using a pair of scissors. Older children can cut out their hand prints themselves, but younger children will require assistance. Cut out a small triangle and two small rectagles out of yellow construction paper. These will be the beak and legs of the turkey.

3. Glue on the feathers.

Glue the triangular beak onto the hand print using craft glue. The beak should be placed onto the thumb of the hand print. Glue on two small googly eyes above the beak on the thumb of the hand print. Glue several red, orange or yellow feathers onto each finger of the hand print. Glue the legs to the bottom of the turkey body. Once dry, the hand print turkeys can be displayed on walls and windows or they can be given as gifts to friends and family.
