Party Suggestions For A Teenager Sleepover

A slumber party is a social event for teens.

Teenagers love staying up all night with friends, and a weekend sleepover party is one way to encourage a safe and fun time for your teen. Although traditionally associated with teenage girls, teen boys can also enjoy overnight parties. No occasion is necessary to throw a sleepover party, and themes that match your teen's interests or habits are good starting points for party planning.

Spa Party

Teen girls will enjoy trying out new hairstyles and relaxing treatments at a spa-themed slumber party. Decorate the party area in pink and white, including streamers and feather boas. Play soft, relaxing music on the stereo. Provide gift bags containing lip gloss, nail polish, facial mask creams, hair accessories and slumber masks for each of the guests. Serve healthy indulgences, such as granola and yogurt parfaits or angel food cake slices with fresh fruit. If you can find spa robes at a reasonable price, purchase enough for each girl to have one to wear at the party.

Video Game Marathon Night

While teen boys may stay up late playing video games alone, few could resist the opportunity to challenge friends at a video-game-themed slumber party. Turn your basement or den into a gaming room by adding several beanbag chairs and posters of video game characters or movies based on video games. Find out if your son's friends are able to bring their gaming systems and have extra televisions available for connection. Help your teen to prepare score sheets to keep track of each boy's progress during the tournament. Order in pizza and wings, and keep the soda and energy drinks flowing.

Horror Party

A sleepover party featuring horror movies will appeal to teen boys or teen girls. Rent several of the latest horror flicks and provide a television and DVD player for the party area. Decorate the party room with stored Halloween decorations, including spider webs and black lights. Prepare popcorn as a snack. To add additional suspense, provide the teens with a Ouija board and candle so they can get in touch with any spirits that may be enjoying the party with them.
