Wear the feather on the side or in front.
During the flapper era, women began to wear their hair and clothes much shorter. Women "bobbed" their hair, cutting it in a chin-length blunt cut. Headwear became much simpler to suit the new bobbed hairstyle. Lively dance music and bouncy dances, such as the Charleston, became popular, as did clothing with fringes and feathers that emphasized the dancer's movements. Make a sparkling headband with an ostrich feather to wear with your flapper costume.
Instructions
1. Measure the wearer's head and cut a length of 2-inch stretch sequin trim the same length.
2. Overlap the ends of the trim 1/2 inch and hand sew them together to make a ring.
3. Cut a 2 1/2-inch circle of craft foam. Hot glue the sharp end of the feather over the circle. Place the point where the "branches" of the feather begin in the center of the circle. The feather should curve up toward you. Cut the point off the feather just inside the circle.
4. Turn the circle over and glue it over the seam of the headband. Orient the feather so that it sticks straight up.
5. Use craft glue to cover the foam circle with sequin trim. Start in the middle of the circle and glue it down in a spiral until the circle is completely covered.
6. Wear the headband around your head so that it goes over your forehead.
