How You Can Create Chii Ears

Chii, the female lead in CLAMP's manga and anime series "Chobits," is a popular character for cosplay due to her elaborate outfits. Chii's trademark is her unique pink and white ears that mark her as a persocom, a humanoid robot. Chii ears sold online can cost up to $40 as of 2010. But you can make your own durable, high-quality Chii ears in under 45 minutes and be the envy of others at your next anime convention.

Instructions

1. Place the bottom of a 6-inch pot or bowl on a sheet of pink craft foam, and trace around it, omitting one-third of the circle. It should look like PacMan or a pizza with a few slices missing. Then cut out using a pair of scissors or a utility knife.

2. Trace the full circle onto a white piece of craft foam, then using the edge of a pot or bowl, make two curves on one end of the circle. It should look like a stretched M shape. Cut this out.

3. Trace a quarter on the scraps of the white craft foam to make four small circles and cut out the pieces.

4. Fold the pink pieces into a cone and glue. This will give the ears their round shape.

5. Glue the pink pieces to the M-shaped edges of the white shapes. Do not put glue in the center of the ears. Leaving a gap prevents the ears from looking pointy. Once the pieces are together, trim any uneven edges if needed.

6. Glue the small white circles half an inch from the edge of the white piece, one on each side. Then glue the round edge of the white piece to a headband where your ears will be.
