Steps To Make A Peacock Ring

Only male peacocks grow colored, iridescent feathers.

As costume jewelry comes back into fashion, peacock rings are becoming more popular. When deciding on what type of peacock ring you'd like to create, think about what style of jewelry suits your needs. If you enjoy vintage style pieces, consider using a peacock pendant as the centerpiece of your ring. Peacock photos under resin are also appropriate for a vintage jewelry style. To capture the brilliant, iridescent colors of a peacock, look for a charm that has a real peacock feather under a piece of glass or plastic. If you want a flashy piece of costume jewelry, find a peacock charm made out of rhinestones or precious gemstones.

Instructions

1. Cut an 8-inch piece of wire with the wire cutters. Bend the wire in half at the middle so that it makes a "U" shape.

2. Thread both ends of the wire the wire through your peacock charm, button, or montee. If you have a charm, thread the wire once through the charm loophole. With a button or montee, thread the wire through two of the four diagonal holes.

3. Twist the wire ends together on the reverse side of the charm, button, or montee so that they are secure. Only twist the wire ends together once; if you twist multiple times, it will create additional space between the peacock and the ring.

4. Identify your ring size and note it on the ring mandrel. If you are not sure of your ring size, measure the circumference of your finger or print out an online ring sizer (see Resource).

5. Wrap the loose wire around the ring mandrel a few times at the desired ring size. The more times you wrap the wire around the mandrel, the thicker the base of the ring will be.

6. Continue wrapping the ring until there is approximately 1 inch of wire left on either side. Wrap the remaining wire around the base of the peacock charm. Use pliers to manipulate the wire if you have difficulty maneuvering the last centimeters of wire.
