Use photos of real chickens as inspiration.
Use chickens and roosters as inspiration to create a variety of crafts, such as plush toys and paper greeting cards. Make crafts for kids, Easter crafts and decorations for your kitchen or den.
Paper Crafts
Create chicken and rooster paper crafts with children at home or at school. Print out chicken templates from sites such as First School to create stand-up paper chicken crafts for use as name signs or table place settings. Templates are also available from First School as well as DLTK's Growing Together and Activity Village for creating baby chick and hen greeting cards and cut-and-paste crafts. Paper plates, hand print tracings and Popsicle sticks can be used to create a hand print rooster craft.
Puppets and Figurines
Construct chick sock puppet crafts, which work well in Easter displays, out of yellow socks, feather boa tufts, black beads, orange felt and orange pipe cleaners. Dye cotton balls with yellow food coloring to make the body of a hatching chick craft, for which you can use a real egg or cut one out of craft foam. Yellow pom poms and yellow and red pipe cleaners help make a chicken pencil topper craft, while brown yarn, yellow pom poms, googly eyes and orange craft foam can be used to create a "chicks in a nest" craft.
Edible Crafts
Make edible chicken and rooster crafts for parties or fun at home, such as chicken and vegetable star nuggets, where you must blend ground chicken with vegetables before cutting them into star shapes. Chocolate Easter eggs on sticks make welcome additions to any Easter basket, or make scrambled eggs, then use cookie cutters to cut the word "Egg" or other desired word out of the mixture. The scrambled egg word can be served alone or in combination with other breakfast foods.
Plush Crafts
Purchase plush chicken and rooster toy sewing patterns and kits for creating chicken toys. If you are skilled at crocheting and sewing, make your own plush chicken and rooster ornament crafts from your own design or with a pattern from a craft site. Use felt to make more decorative plush chicken crafts or look for chicken and rooster fabric patterns to create chicken pillows. Create standard square pillows and use a variety of rooster patterns, or make a chicken fabric pillow shaped like a chicken.
